My eye sight was getting worse and my golfing partners were getting frustrated when I asked where my ball landed with every shot. My personal physician recommended I make an appointment with Dr. John Odette and I’m glad I did. He diagnosed me with cataracts and I immediately scheduled laser cataract surgery. The procedure was painless with only mild discomfort. By the next day my vision was great and I was anxious to get my other eye corrected quickly. After three weeks my vision has returned to 20-20. Now I am telling my golfing partners where their ball has landed! I strongly recommend Dr. Odette and Austin Eye for anyone having trouble with their vision. Dr. Wong has been taking care of my family since the1980’s. That’s why I chose to use Austin Eye’s advanced “no stitch” cataract surgery with premium adjustable focus intraocular lens implants. From the beginning of my journey, Dr. Wong and his staff were patient, kind, professional, knowledgeable, and most of all treating me as if I were a member of their family. Because Austin Eye has their own surgical center, the staff knew each other and worked as a complete team. My procedure went like clock work. No waiting, called in on time and was released exactly when I was told I could return home. My vision went from seeing with a “hazy” brown film to see brilliant colors I had not seen in years! The procedure was painless for me. As Dr. Wong performed the surgery, he was constantly updating me on what was happening. I am having my second eye corrected the very next Monday and I can’t wait to see like a young person with two incredible new eyes. Thanks to all at Austin Eye!

Electrified! Astounded! Exhilarated! That’s how I feel about my vision, now that I’ve had cataracts removed from both eyes by Dr. Shannon Wong. The nurses were very explicit in explaining exactly what I needed to do for optimum eye care after the operations, and with Dr. Wong narrating one of the cataract surgeries, I was so fascinated that the operation seemed to only take about five minutes (yes, really) and I could feel slight pressure but never any pain, thanks to his impeccable judgment in administering eyedrops for numbing my eyeballs. The handouts made post operative eye care a breeze. My meticulous Internet research paid off–I feel I couldn’t have had a better experience than I had at Austin Eye Clinic. I can now see better than I have seen for the past SIXTY years, during which time I have always worn glasses. I am 69 years old, but I feel almost like I’ve been reborn, or perhaps I’ve morphed into an energetic old woman, now that I can go on a speedboat, hike behind Niagara Falls (or Iguassu Falls in Brazil), free to no longer need little windshield wipers on my glasses because of rain/mist. I was referred by my GP to Dr. John Odette at Austin Eye for deteriorating vision and have just completed cataract surgery. I had the basic procedure, nothing fancy, and I am utterly amazed by the results. As of now, I do not seem to need glasses for anything after having worn them virtually all of my nearly 69 years. I’m an avid birder, so acuity of vision is especially important to me. And I have the best vision I’ve had in my life, I believe. As important, the entire staff at Austin Eye and Dr. Odette’s team, in particular, are as thoroughly professional, encouraging, and cheerful as any group I have known anywhere. I look forward to my visits there. What surprises I have had have been good ones.

Dr. Mitchel Wong and his assistant Kelly Underwood were spectacular. I am a very feeble person when it comes to surgery and body parts like eyeballs, even the thought of a hospital can make me feel faint; but they provided calm words throughout the procedure and I could not be happier with the results. It is amazing what science can do, and when managed by professionals, this procedure is a dream come true.
