Dr. Mitchel Wong at Austin Eye removed my cataracts and replaced them with Crystalenses; one surgery was a week ago, and one was just yesterday. I am typing this without wearing ANY glasses. The eye that is one week post-op already has much clearer vision, so I have confidence (and evidence) to reassure me that my vision is more than just saved; it has been improved. Already the world is brighter—blues and whites are spectacular. I can hardly wait for this second week to pass. I was made comfortable –both mentally and physically—by the nurses especially, but really, by a welcoming and efficient staff at both offices. When deciding which lens was right for my needs, I appreciated Dr. Wong’s advice based on expertise with laser surgery and intraocular lens insertion—and astigmatism correction—matched to my own lifestyle and my eyes. Listen to him! He is also clear about what to expect during surgery as well as after, as vision clears. I felt a rush of gratitude as his predictions materialized. It’s a pleasure to highly recommend Austin Eye.

Before I went to Dr. Shannon Wong I had very poor eyesight.Cataracts in both eyes. I love to sew and knit and my eye sight was causing problems. I feared having my eyes worked on, I think it was the fear of the unknown. After meeting with Dr. Shannon I had no more fear.He is very good at explaining the procedure and made me very comfortable . The surgery went very well for the first eye no pain and the second was just as easy. That evening I could see the difference. Everything was very clear and since then I have not worn my glasses. I am now able to thread my needles and even read the very small print on the medicine bottles. I’ve needed glasses since I was in the second grade and have been pretty much blind without them ever since. I found Austin Eye online and read nothing but awesome reviews but didn’t know just how good of a decision I had made until I had come in for my free consult. The staff was great, and informative. Your not just a person paying for a service here, they care about the concerns and well being of their patients! One week later I went from a -9 and -8 prescription to seeing 20/15. Best decision I’ve made in a long time and I only wish I would have made it sooner! Now a couple of my family members will be getting LASIK and I strongly recommend Austin Eye if your thinking and getting the procedure yourself. Dr. Shannon and Michael Wong, and Dr. Odette (he was the Doc i had) combined have done well over 20 to 25 thousand LASIK and eye procedures. The Mann Eye institute is promoted like crazy all over the radio and come to find out he doesn’t even live in Austin, he lives in Houston. I don’t know bout you but when it comes to something as precious as my eyes, I want in house service and a long track record of success. I have found both at Austin eye!!

Dr. Wong was very thorough, friendly, and professional. The whole procesure went smoothly and I’m very glad I had it done here. A++, would recommend to friends and family.

Saw John Branch for potential surgical consult. He said it wasn’t really necessary, gave me his card to email if had any more questions. Seemed like a great place to me, especially for an eye exam. Can’t speak to the reviews about lasik.
