I had cataract surgery yesterday afternoon. There was no pain and this morning I woke up seeing clearly. My doctor is John Odette M.D. He is awesome. I recommend him to all my family and friends. In my opinion he is the BEST.

Dr. Reece was so amazing. I unfortunately had very bad LASIK surgery in Los Angeles and was left hopeless with my poor vision. I went to Dr. Reece in St. Louis and she checked my vision and recommended some vitamin supplements to help bring natural oils to my eyes for dry eye. She also showed me WHY my vision was blurry and helped me to understand scientifically, instead of just telling me in words I couldn’t understand. I can honestly say my life has changed since my visit to her

While I have been more than pleased with Dr. Odette, I find it necessary to leave Austin Eye. I received services on September 8th, at which time I was covered by United Healthcare/Medicare. Each time I visit the office I am asked to show my current insurance card, which I did. Last week I got a bill from Austin Eye for the services I received on September 8th because my current insurance was not in effect at the time services were rendered. When I called Austin Eye to tell them they had billed the wrong insurance company, because my current coverage did not become effective until October 1, 2018, I was told Austin Eye was not in network with United Healthcare. I further explained that I did not even have my current card at the time of service, at which time the associate suggested I ask my Current carrier to say it was effective September 1, 2018 instead of October 1, 2018 so Austin Eye could bill them, as they are in network with them. My thought is I should have been told Austin Eye was not in network with my insurer BEFORE services were rendered so I could have made an informed decision as to whether I wanted to go forward with the visit, knowing I would have to pay for the visit out of my pocket. I am retired, and on a fixed income. I can ill afford to pay for insurance and pay for services as well. I’m sure I will not find another doctor with Dr. Odette’s skills, but I cannot continue with an organization that, obviously, does not value me as a loyal customer. Phyllis L. Jordan
