UPDATE No. 2: I am very late in submitting this update. I was given a card with an early January 2026 appointment date from Dr. Ficke at the end of my initial appointment. I contemplated calling to see another doctor, but decided to visit with Dr. Ficke again. One thing I did not realize was that the appointment had already been entered into their database. I thought that was great. When meeting with Dr. Ficke, I informed her of my thoughts regarding my initial visit with her at some time during our second visit, and that I had submitted a review regarding my experience with her. I told her decided to see her again as I may have been quick to judge without mentioning my concern during the initial visit. She informed that she doesn’t look at reviews. For what it’s worth, I found Dr. Ficke to be quite pleasant during my second visit and told her I would update my review. I appreciated the outcome of our visit. Unless something is very blatant, I’ve decided to not be quick to judge based on one visit. I hope the best for Dr. Ficke and her future clients. I upgraded the 4 stars to 5. UPDATE: I asked AI why are clients asked to come back in a month to reassess eye floaters and was informed “the first 6-8 weeks after a sudden onset of floaters (often from a posterior vitreous detachment, or PVD) is the highest risk period for developing a serious retinal tear or detachment, which can lead to blindness if untreated.” I admit I am the one without knowledge and can appreciate the doctor’s expertise and recommendation. However the only reason I recall for waiting a month was “waiting for the obstructions to settle down”. As stated in my initial review, the doctor did what was necessary to perform their job. No one really has to do more than required to perform their job, however it is a great thing to present one’s self in such a way that a client would not only want to come back to see them, but is excited to spread the word of their positive experience encountered with the doctor. I am willing to see this doctor again and perhaps communicate about my misunderstanding about the waiting period and perhaps obtain a better impression of client- doctor interaction. No change in stars. INITIAL REVIEW: I’m editing my review to include that the first contact people at the front desk and the doctors’ (technicians?) are outstanding! They are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They provided excellent customer service. For this reason, I’m increasing my 3-star to 4 stars. As far as my visit with the actual doctor, I felt that the doctor did what was necessary to perform their job. There was nothing extra, i.e. pleasant, welcoming or beyond. Nothing to encourage others to request this doctor. On my next visit, I will request a previous doctor, or a new doctor. I don’t know if the recommendation to come back in one month is standard, when I just began experiencing a mass of plastic looking, as well as a huge black floater obstructing my vision. It’s such a hindrance, that I was hoping to have them removed asap, rather than returning for another visit, and according to the doctor, waiting for the obstructions to settle down. It’s a plus to have a team member’s performance encouraging clients wanting to return to see them. PS that was my first visit with doctor R. Ficke.
