I was reluctant to have standard cataract surgery since the key to the outcome is the skill of the surgeon performing it; however, I heard that Austin Eye Center was able to perform laser cataract surgery. Being a professor Emeritus of Physics at a major university in our great stqte of Texas, I was quite familiar with the efficacy of femtosecond lasers for performing a ;plethora of eye correcting procedure4s. I then looked up the credentials of Dr. Shannon Wong and saw that he was indeed a highly skilled surgeon and was extremely proficient at doing laser cataract surgery. I had this surgery performed on my right eye and had a multifocal lens installed and the results were amazing since I no longer needed my tri-focal glasses. Dr. Wong is the consummate professional and his assistants, Kelly and Amy, were marvelous. I was so impressed that I also had my left eye done with equal results. I can truly give them my highest recommendation and will recommend them to all my friends and colleagues. Dr. George W. Kattawar

Thankful for the excellent, expert services of Dr. John Odette. Not only is he a professional, he’s kind, caring, and on-time. What a great concept!!!! I had cataracts removed and I can SEE!!! Even without glasses. From the minute you walk into the offices, you are treated with dignity and respect. The nurses at the Surgery center are well-informed and patient as are the doctor’s assistants at the office—–two in particular—are Mackenzie and Christen. Thanks again!!!

Have been going to Dr. Mitchel Wong for about 40 years and have always had the best care. During my Cataract Surgery, I could not have had better care from not only Dr. Wong but the entire staff both administrative and surgical. The check-in procedure was easy and fast. Everything was explained completely and fully. The nurses were fabulous – they took me into the prep room and gave me the necessary medications and explained each step and medication in minute detail, and at all times insured my physical and emotional comfort. During the actual surgery, Dr. Wong explained each step as he was performing it and I was always aware and had a complete understanding of what he was doing at that precise instant in time. After the surgery, the nurses made sure I was comfortable until they determined I was recovered and then I was taken in a wheelchair to my, wife driven car, waiting at the curb. Heather then helped into the car and made sure I was securely buckled in before she closed the door. A follow up call was made that afternoon to ensure I was not having any complications from the surgery. All of the follow up check-ups have gone well and my vision is now around 20 20 and still improving. It was explained to me before the operation and in a video that full healing and vision improvement could take up to a year. I would highly recommend, and have recommended, Dr. Mitchel Wong to others for this procedure as well as all of their other eye care. Ken Edwards

Amazed beyond belief!! That is the phrase that I use to describe my happiness with my new vision. Dr. John Odette performed my cataract surgery on both eyes. I chose to have the Restor[tm] lens implanted, and I could not be happier. I knew that my vision had changed, but I could not believe how bad it had gotten. After I had the first eye done and noticed the massive change in my vision, I could hardly wait to have the other eye done. My vision is now perfect. I don’t have to wear glasses or readers, and have had no issues since the surgery. I highly reccomend Dr. Odette and the professional staff at Austin Eye. Dr. Odette and Austin Eye have another patient for life.

Dr. Wong has taken care of my eyes for nearly 25 years, and he always has been professional, caring and extremely competent. He fitted me with contacts, and when I was finally ready, he performed Lasix, which opened a new world for me! He removed my mother’s cataracts, has taken care of our annual exams, and just this week, when I developed a troubling symptom, he made time immediately for me. Dr. Wong and his team have always provided the highest level of care and compassion, and I cannot imagine changing doctors.
