Upper Eyelid Lift

Refresh and Brighten Your Eyes

Cosmetic upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids to create a more open, awake, and youthful appearance. With the thinnest skin in the body, the eyes are often one of the first places to show changes of aging.  Over time, the upper eyelids can begin to droop or feel heavy—often making you look tired or older than you feel.  An upper eyelid blepharoplasty can provide a subtle yet noticeable facial rejuvenation by:

  • Reducing hooded or sagging upper eyelids
  • Improving eyelid contour and symmetry
  • Restoring a more rested look

The results of upper eyelid cosmetic blepharoplasty last for many years (typically 10-20) and can enhance your overall facial expression without altering your natural appearance.

Enhancements to Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty

There are multiple options to enhance your cosmetic upper eyelid blepharoplasty results.  Some of these options may be performed at the time of surgery, and some may be performed after surgery.  Dr. Stewart will discuss options to enhance your blepharoplasty with you at your consultation.

  • Brow support or contouring sutures placed at the time of blepharoplasty
  • Facial rejuvenation treatments including microneedling, lasers or neurotoxin injections
  • Lash and brow treatments to enhance hair growth and health

Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty

Rejuvenate Tired, Puffy Eyes

The under-eye area is often one of the first places to show visible signs of aging. Wrinkles, sagging skin, and puffiness can lead to a tired or aged appearance—even when you feel well-rested. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look by targeting the delicate skin and tissue beneath the eyes.

Whether due to aging, genetics, or sun damage, lower eyelid concerns are common—and often very treatable. This surgery can help improve:

  • Loose or sagging skin under the eyes
  • Puffy under-eye bags or fat deposits
  • Fine lines and wrinkles in the lower eyelid area
  • A tired or worn-out appearance

Dr. Stewart focuses on creating a customized natural-looking results for your lower lid blepharoplasty based on your goals and concerns.  During your consultation, Dr. Stewart will perform a full examination of your eyelids and facial structure.  Skin type and elasticity will also be assessed to ensure optimal results and a smooth healing process.  There are multiple techniques used during lower eyelid blepharoplasty.  Dr. Stewart will customize the approach to best suit your desired outcome and facial structure.

Combine Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty for Complete Rejuvenation

For patients looking to fully refresh their eye area, combining upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty can offer comprehensive results in a single procedure. This approach addresses aging concerns both above and below the eyes—lifting droopy upper lids and reducing puffiness or wrinkles beneath the eyes.

Benefits of Combining Both Procedures:

  • Balanced, natural-looking rejuvenation
  • One surgical session and recovery period
  • Improved symmetry and overall facial harmony
  • Long-lasting enhancement with minimal downtime

By treating the upper and lower eyelids together, you can achieve a brighter, more youthful appearance that still looks like you—just more rested and revitalized.

Eyebrow Lifting

Elevate and Refresh Your Look

An eyebrow lift, also known as a brow lift, is a cosmetic procedure that raises the position of the brows to restore a more youthful and alert appearance. Over time, the brows may begin to droop or flatten due to aging, creating a tired, heavy, or even stern look.

A brow lift can help:

  • Lift sagging or low-positioned eyebrows
  • Smooth forehead lines and frown creases
  • Open up the eye area for a brighter appearance
  • Improve facial symmetry and expression

This procedure can be performed on its own or combined with eyelid surgery for more comprehensive rejuvenation. Results are natural-looking and long-lasting, helping you look refreshed—not “overdone.”

Eyebrow Lift Techniques

There are several surgical techniques available for eyebrow lifting, each tailored to meet individual needs and desired outcomes. Your surgeon will recommend the best approach based on your anatomy and goals.

Common Techniques Include:

  • Endoscopic Brow Lift:
This minimally invasive method uses small incisions hidden in the hairline and a tiny camera (endoscope) to lift and reposition the brows. It results in minimal scarring and a quicker recovery time.
  • Traditional (Coronal) Brow Lift:
This technique involves a longer incision across the scalp, allowing for greater lifting and skin removal. It’s ideal for patients needing more significant correction but typically has a longer healing period.
  • Temporal (Limited Incision) Brow Lift:
Focused on lifting the outer portions of the brows, this approach uses smaller incisions near the temples. It’s a less invasive option with shorter recovery, best suited for mild to moderate brow sagging.
  • Direct Brow Lift:
This procedure involves making an incision above the brows to directly raise the eyebrows. This leaves a scar on the face, which may be hidden under bangs, within a wrinkle or at the top of the brow hairs.  It provides the best brow lift but is not right for all patients given the possible scar.
  • Internal Browpexy:
This minimally invasive technique is combined with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty to provide support and subtle lift to the lateral brows with a quick recovery and no additional incisions.  This is best suited for patients with mild brow ptosis.

Each technique aims to create a natural, refreshed look while minimizing visible scars and downtime. During your consultation, Dr. Stewart will discuss which options might fit best for you.

Asian Blepharoplasty

Eyelid Lesions and Bumps

Many eyelid lesions, such as chalazia and styes, can be treated with medication initially. Some may require steroid injections or a simple procedure to drain the lesion. Other types of growths, like cysts or skin tags, usually need to be removed through a minor in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia. These treatments typically take between 10 and 30 minutes, and sutures may or may not be necessary. Mild bruising or swelling can occur for a few days, but most patients return to their normal activities within a week.  Treatment of these lesions usually leads to complete resolution, and patients are often very satisfied, wishing they had addressed the issue sooner.  Many lesion removals are covered by health insurance, but coverage can vary depending on location and your symptoms.

Most removed lesions are sent for microscopic examination to check for any signs of cancer. If cancer is detected, Dr. Stewart will guide your treatment to ensure you receive comprehensive care.

Xanthelasma

Xanthelasma are yellowish, flat or slightly raised plaques that appear on or around the eyelids. They are caused by a buildup of cholesterol deposits beneath the skin and are usually harmless but can affect the appearance of your eyes.

Causes and Risk Factors:

  • Often linked to high cholesterol or lipid levels in the blood
  • Can be associated with other medical conditions like diabetes or liver disease
  • May run in families

Treatment Options:

While xanthelasma are not dangerous, many choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons. The are typically treated best with surgical excision. Depending on the size of the xanthelasma, Dr. Stewart will discuss reconstruction options.

Nonsurgical Aesthetics

Neurotoxin Injections

Neurotoxin injections, like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Letybo, are incredibly popular treatments that help reduce wrinkles and fine lines by gently relaxing the muscles in your face. When done in a low-dose targeted way, these injections can give you a smoother, more refreshed appearance without looking “frozen” or unnatural.

These treatments are quick, minimally invasive, and have little to no downtime. Many patients choose neurotoxins to soften frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles while keeping their natural facial expressions. Dr. Stewart also uses neurotoxin injections to provide temporary and subtle lift to the brows and eyelids, and the “lip flip” procedure to provide more natural fullness to the upper lips than fillers.

At your appointment, Dr. Stewart will work with you to customize treatment to enhance your natural beauty and maintain a youthful, relaxed look.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that uses tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger the skin’s natural healing process, stimulating collagen and elastin production for smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

What Does It Treat?

Microneedling can help improve:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scars and other types of scarring
  • Large pores
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Sun damage and pigmentation

How Does It Work?

The microneedling device uses sterile, single use, ultra-fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. As the skin heals, it produces new collagen and elastin — the building blocks of healthy skin.

Boosted Results with Serums

During and after microneedling, specialized serums may be applied to enhance results. These serums penetrate deeper into the skin through the microchannels created by the device. Commonly used serums include:

  • Hyaluronic acid – Deeply hydrates and plumps the skin
  • Vitamin C – Brightens skin tone and supports collagen production
  • Growth factors or peptides – Promote healing and skin regeneration
  • Niacinamide – Helps calm inflammation and improve skin texture
  • Exosomes – Support cellular repair and renewal (used in some advanced treatments)

Dr. Stewart will guide serum selection based on your skin type and treatment goals.

What to Expect During Treatment

  • Time: 10-30 minutes depending on treatment area
  • Comfort: Typically, no numbing is required to have excellent comfort during the procedure. It may even feel like a massage!
  • Downtime: Very mild redness or swelling for 1–2 days, similar to a sunburn

When Will You See Results?

Most patients notice visible improvements within a few weeks. For optimal results, a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart may be recommended.

Aftercare Tips

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for several days
  • Keep skin clean and moisturized
  • Avoid harsh products like retinoids or exfoliants for at least 48 hours
