Dr. Cansler performed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, which piqued her interest in Optometry through its philanthropy, Service for Sight, and her time volunteering at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She then moved to Memphis,Tennessee and received her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Cansler has completed multiple clinical internships with emphasis in ocular disease and refractive surgery including Texas Eye and Laser Center in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station.
Dr. Cansler has worked as a Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist at The Eye Institute of Corpus Christi where she treated diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, corneal pathology and performed pre-and post-operativemanagement of glaucoma, cataract, cornea and refractive surgery patients. Dr. Cansler speaks both English and Spanish and is happy to see Spanish-speaking patients as well as patients of all ages.
Dr. Cansler is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. Dr. Cansler’s goal is to make patients comfortable. She has found that by enriching the doctor-patient relationship she can help patients obtain more knowledge and understanding of their conditions which ultimately leads to better outcomes.
In her free time, Dr. Cansler enjoys playing tennis, yoga,and going to Zilker park with her golden labrador named Austin.
